Stimulant Refill Policy

Unwind Your Mind Psychiatry & Wellness , we know how important it is to feel supported steady, and seen. In that spirit, we've updated our stimulant medication refill policy to make things clearer, safer, and more consistent for everyone we care for.

  1. Refill Eligibility

    • Patients taking stimulant medications must be seen for scheduled medication management visits every 30-90 days, depending on stability and clinical need.

    • If you miss or cancel your appointment and do not reschedule within 7 days, your provider may offer a bridging refill - a short-term prescription to help you stay on track until you're seen again. 

  2. Administration Fee for Refill Requests

    • Beginning July 11, 2025, a $35 administrative fee will be applied to:

      • Bridging refills for missed appointments

      • Refill requests made outside of the scheduled visits 

      • Stable adult patients who don't require monthly visits but still request refills without follow-up.​

      • This fee is NOT covered by insurance and must be paid before the prescription is sent to your pharmacy.

    • We will always let you know when this fee applies, and we'll do our best to help you plan ahead.​

  3. Children & Monthly Visits

    • Children prescribed stimulant medications will need to be seen every month to ensure safety, growth monitoring, and emotional check-ins. 

    • We know life is busy, and we'll always do our best to make these visits accessible and supportive.

  4. When Refill Patterns Become Disruptive

    • If there are multiple missed appointments, frequent emergency refill requests, or difficulty staying in follow-up, your provider will pause and review the treatment plan.

    • This is never to punish, but to ensure care remains safe and effective.

  5. Controlled Substance Agreement

    • All patients prescribed stimulants will review and sign a Controlled Substance Agreement, which includes:

      • Using one consistent pharmacy and prescriber

      • No early refills or dose changes without discussion

      • Pill counts or random screens as needed

    • This agreement keeps everyone on the same page and helps us care for you with integrity.

  6. Telehealth + Flexibility

    • We know that transportation, illness, or finances can get in the way.

    • Telehealth visits are always an option—just let us know what you need, and we’ll work together to keep you connected and cared for.

  7. Our Heart Behind the Policy​

    • This policy isn’t about punishment—it’s about partnership.

    • We want your care to feel steady, respectful, and human. If something comes up, we’ll always try to work with you. Just keep us in the loop​
